- The most harmful herbs that grow in the District are cappocks evelans and thistles. They are harmful because they spread rapidly and they choke the soil. Nettles, thistles, and rushes, grow in bad land. Dackins cure stings. Flaggers cure a creak in the neck. Dackins are given to ducks and young turkeys nettles are also given. Christians eat young nettles in Summer when they are fresh and soft. They boil them and eat them. Ivy leaves are used for taking stains out of clothes. Children gather sorrel in the fields and they eat it. Grounsel grows in good land and it is given to birds. March mallows grows in good land and it cures swelling.
