  1. The domestic and farm animals which are at home are :-, Cows, horses, pigs, calves, sheep, lambs, dogs and cats. The fowl are :-, Hens, ducks and chickens.
The cows are not known by any special names. When driving cows in or out of a field we say "How-up". When calves are being called to their drink we say, "Suck, suck, suck"
The cow-house is built of stone, white-washed on the inside with a cement floor and channel. There is also a wooden manger in it, to which is attached a number of chains for tying the cows. The cows are tied round the neck with the chains.
When people are finished milking they put the Sign of the Cross on the cow with the froth of the milk, and say "God bless you cow".
The horse-stable is much the same as the cows' except that there are wooden divisions in it called stalls, and the manger is much deeper. The horses get their oats in boxes which are attached to the manger.
