One night of a Regatta the Rowers of the Rowing Clubs, who came to Drogheda to compete, tied two of the watchmen together and put a bottle of whiskey between their backs (they were tied back to back). Next morning, someone found them and untied them, and the bottle of whiskey fell out.
Both themselves and whoever tied them, were furious to see what they missed.The night-watchmen called out the hours - 12 o'clock, all's well; one o'clock all's well, etc. They all had their whistles and if anything went wrong, they would call the police.(no title)
