Long ago markets were held in the local towns. Men often went round called "Rag and bottle men". These men still go round. They buy rags and bottles and as pay for these they give needles or pins.
The coins have many different names. A halfpenny is called a "make," a penny is called a "wing" 3d is called a doe, 6d is called a tanner 1sh is called a bob, 2sh are called a florin, 2s - 6d is called half an oz or half a crown.
