  2. People long ago never swept out the floor on a Monday they swept it in instead. Sweeping out on a Monday sweeps out all the luck. Iron was put in the nest when eggs were being hatched so that there would be birds in all the eggs. It is still the custom to put a piece of iron in the nest to save eggs from thunder.
