- The name of my townland is Kilaidmee, which is in the parish of Ballybacon, and the barony is Iffa and Offa West. There are few families in the townland, and the population is about twenty. O'Gorman is the most common name in the townland. The houses are plain houses, some are thatched, and others are slated.Kilaidamee means the church on the high plain, because there was a church in olden times. There are three old people in the district who can tell stories in Irish and in English. Their names are:- John Mulvey, John Beston, and Mrs Power. There were several more houses in the district long ago. No traces of the houses can (be) seen now but old people can still point out where they stood.
