    He Shaved too Often
    In years gone by, the young people of this parish were very fond of drink. The canon of this place used to take a drop of whiskey every day for the good of his health as he was ordered to do so by the doctor.
    After a while a new curate came here and seeing the desperate plight of the people on account of the drink, he ordered them to take a pledge. This the people did, and the Canon also gave up drinking whiskey.
    After a while the Canon got sick and the doctor was sent for, he told the Canon that he must take his drop of whiskey as before, but he said, that he could not bring drink into the house, that Katie, the housekeeper, would kill him.
    The doctor was puzzled to know what to do, but at last he thought of a plan, he bought a bottle of whiskey and hid it in the corner of the room with a maid could not see it. He told the Canon that anytime he wanted a drink should call Katie, and tell her that he was going to shave and that he wanted a hot water, and when she would go away he could get the whiskey and make punch. His plan succeeded, but one morning he drank too much punch and when the doctor returned after a day and a half on being admitted, he has Katie, How was the Canon. She replied. "He is not too good at all,
