    Oh Roscrea you are my darling
    I adore you night and day
    you're the centre of three counties
    and a far way from the 'say' (sea)
    You're the cleanest town
    I do go down
    I have heard it oe'r and o'er
    and your midway situated
    Between Birr and Templemore
    End.
    "Oh! times are hard in this district
    I dono[?] what I'll do
    I'm too old to join the Bobbies
    And to list I'd never do
    I'm no land agitator
    For my larning is not the best
    Oh there's nothing left me now but emigration
    Our daughters, oh God bless their hearts
    They gave us a lending hand
    To bring around our downfall
    Sure the' wanted to dress grand
    Oh the' were not satisfied
