  1. People used to wear boots in former times, at about the age of ten years. At the present time children go barefooted in the summer, there are less shoemakers to-day because of the boot factories. Leather was never made in the district. Clog's were worn locally about thirty years ago, they are not worn now. The water that the feet were washed in should be thrown out very far away from the door.
