  1. It was the custom long ago to get married in the dark in the Gortagarry chapel, but that custom was done away with because of a strange mistake that once occurred.
    Two marriages were to take place the same night in Gortagarry. The priest came and married the first pair, but when the ceremony was over, they noticed that they were married to the wrong people. When the intended bride of the first man came and found her fiance married she was in great distress. It turned out that the first pair were satisfied with one another but the second girl would not marry the other man, so ever since people must get
