- One day three men were coming from O'Brien's Bridge to Castleconnell by boat and when they arrived at The World's End the boat hit a stone and overturned. There was a man on the shore and he swam out and rescued one of the men, and another of the men swam to the shore but the third man named Myres was drowned.
One evening a boat in which (was) were a brother of Mr. Mulqueen and a boy of the Enrights was coming down the river at The World's End. Suddenly a duck rose out of the river and the Enright boy jumped up and got a gun to shoot the bird. In jumping up he overturned the boat and the two men fell into the water. Mr Mulqueen got to the shore but the boy was drowned.
