  1. Long ago there were many old crafts. As far back as the people remember there were no leather tanning done in this District any nearer that Clonmel. In the year 1820 and up to the late years people made there own candle's put of lard. They fixed it in the shape of a candle and put a piece of cord as long as the candle in the middle for the wick. They left the candle behind the door that night. The next night the candle was fit to be lit.
    Weaving was done around here. There is a ruin of an old mill still to be seen near the mill river. Weaving and spinning were done there. The flax was spun into sheets and blankets. It was cut first steeped then and bleached.
    There was another spinning wheel in Bocar. Mrs Baily that worked the one in Bocar and john Torpy that worked the one down at the mill.
