    noises on the alter, he looked up and saw a priest there. The priest asked if there was anyone there to answer mass and the man was afraid to answer. The priest asked three times and he gave no answer. The the priest disappeared from the altar and the man did not see him anymore that night.
    In the morning he went to his parish priest and told him about it. The parish priest told him stay in the church on the following night. The man did and at twelve o'clock the priest appeared again on the altar. He asked the same question as he did the night before. This time the man served mass for him and when he was finished the priest said "God bless you". He told him he was paid to say that mass before he died but he forgot to say it and now he was suffering in purgatory on its account.
    This happened in this locality.
