He translated it from an old Irish poem because it appealed to his feelings after the death of his fiancée. He lived over 90 years and is buried in Foynes. From Con Normoyle, Rour, Adare (55 years)

   Old Irish customs.

   On St. Bridget's eve over 40 years ago I saw a little cross, made of bulrushes, stuck up in the thatch inside the door, in honour of the Saint.

   On St. Martin's eve the old people used kill a hen or a goose and spill the blood in honour of the Saint. I remember I cut my finger accidentally with a
