I have never seen west Limerick hills as bright as they are today.
Or never did its fields or meadows or hedge-grows look so gay.
Perhaps it is long absence from those haunts we loved so well.
That fills us with such great delights here in this woodland dell.

The sparkling little glasha fade by many a rippling rill.
Still steal along the valley between the verdure hill.
Where fern and sweet primrose and waterlily fair.
Bend low to kiss it crimson wave as it winds through knockanare.

Once more I see Dromada hills, Clash School and sweet Coole West.
And knockanare, my native home, the place that i love best.
I see again Knockfinisk and glenduff, Tureen and Glenagore.
