- A Local Story.Once upon a time there lived a very poor tinker in Kilcolman who was known in the towns for mending cooking utensils. One day the tinker was asked by a man who lived in Duncahar, if he would come and repair some broken pipes for him. The tinker did so, but when going on his journey he had to pass through a large wood. Having arrived in Duncahar he did his work.When he was finished he got three shillings from his employer. On returning home he met a poor man at a cross-roads, who asked him for help. The tinker gave him a shilling. On arriving again at the large wood, the tinker was met by a still poorer man, who also asked him for help. The tinker was kind enough to give a shilling.
