  1. A long time ago a man lived alone in a small house near the church yard which is a mile from Loughill.
    One night as he was going to bed a knock came to the door and he came out and opened it. As he was opening it he saw a shadow passing but no more. He locked the door, and came in again and went to bed. The knocking continued all that night, and again the next night so that the man was nervous to go to bed, and on the third night remained up.
    At hafp half one a light came before his eyes and he was struck dead.
    Next morning his neighbours came to his door, but of course they could not get in. after a while
