  1. Many years ago two men went out late at night to cut from a black-thorn tree, sticks to make hurdleys. It was a moon - light night and the men were in no hurry. Just as they had cut the sticks a small woman appeared and said, "Drop them and run". So they ran away quickly and when they got to the door the little woman appeared again and said "Run quickly" and just as they were inside the door there was terrible knocking at the door.
