  1. Burns
    A piece of the bark of an elder tree, ground very fine. Two ounces of this powder and and two ounces of Lard, when mixed into a paste and applied to the effected part is said to cure a burn.
    Stye
    To cure a stye in a person's eye get the person to rub his own fasting spit to the effected part. Another cure for a stye is to look through a widow's wedding ring and make the sign of the cross.

    All infectious diseases may be cured by the parent or relative of the sick person on seeing a man with a white horse passing the house where the sick person is and by going out and asking
