  2. Banding of wheels - a big, circular fire with, approx. the same diameter as the wheel-band is made outside. In this the bands are heated until they expand. They are then placed around the wheels & are cooled. Cold water is poured on them.

  3. Historical connection: Wm. Fitzgibbon (Gibbingsgrove) who was a smith, made pikes for the '98 rebels.
