  1. Poets.
    At the Present day there are two poets in this parish (1) Mr Patrick Hammond of Kilpadder (2) Tim Callaghan of Ladeendarra. Mr Hammond had many poems published in the Cork Examiner and his wit and humour was remarkable. Mr Callaghan wrote "the praise of Glantane" in which he used the most choice adjectives to exalt his native village.
    Many bachelors and old-maids feared the pen of Denis Coleman Glantane when he came to draw up his Skellig's List.
    Heroes.
    Many heroic deeds of the old people are recorded.
    There is a story told of a very handsome young girl who was buried in the "Clais field" near the Cross known as the "Cos" on the Beeing road. She and her mother lived for several days in
