  1. Ay my heart is low and weary,
    As I pen those lines do day,
    For the Bard I loved so dearly lies mouldering in the clay,
    Though gone he's not forgotten
    Long we'll think of him with pride,
    And of the stirring songs he sung by Swilly's ebbing tide.

    Our Glendown Bard has gone to sleep,
    He has bade good by to all
    And left fond friends behind to weep in dear old Donegal
    His name will be ever cherished at home and oer the sea
