  1. A Local Song

Ar maidin Dé Domhnaigh nuair a theigim-se go dtí an t-Aifreann

    Ar maidin Dé Domhnaigh
    Nuair a theigim-se go dtí an t-Aifreann
Cuirim orm Léine agus béada breág bearruige
    Tugaim féacaint mór ocímceall
Tar a fuair fí fé ndeara mé
Agus ní ar Muire bí mé ag caoineaim
Acr ar Brigde sí is measa liom
= Jerry Murphy got from Mrs Bridget Nolan Rathduan Rathmore Kerry.
One day for amusement to sweet Ballyvourny
The Sabbath in June last I chanched for to stray
I viewed all the crops and full grown woods planted
Each hill and valley in a triangular way
    When examined completely
    I began at sneezing
And I knew not the reason for solitude nay
For over-right me was standing a comely young damsel
Be sure in her hand was costly sun shade
Beside a hat and a feather
    She wore them together
Wit ha watch and a muff
And a sash around her waist
