  2. William MacAlufiffe had a hedge school in an outhouse belonging to Daniel Fitzgerald Renasup. Thadg "Staill" had a school in Glountán in the house now belonging to Darby Goulden. There was a school in Lois-na-Buidhe. John W Herlihy held a night school in John Herlihy's house in Farrankeal Knocknagree. Those teachers were paid by the boys. They taught the Catechism in Irish. Con Keefe had a school in Tureencahill. All the hedge teachers had Irish. No inspectors came to those schools. They had no blackboard. The boys used to
