Dooneen - happy haunts of the angler
The Glebe for the grey hound or gun
Drishane where the wild rose or rambler
Now shelters each holy souled nun
Far away from those scenes I oft ponder
And when sleep claims my senses I dream
Of one whom with me loved to wander
    Ere bidding farewell to Dooneen.
    V
In these dreams I oft go to the gateway
Where the road o'er the railway do run
It was there we'd rehearse every hearsay
That oft provoked laughter and fun
But ; for, me all these bright days are over
Never more with my old pals I'm seen
Content with the faith of a rover
I must die far away from Dooneen.
