  1. Fairs are held in towns in fair fields or on the streets. Buyers still travel to the country and buy and men buy fowl at cross roads also butter and eggs still. Toll is paid on cattle 6d per head. Luck is always given when an animal is sold. So much for a cow, more for a horse and less for a pig or sheep, according to value of animal. If the usual luck is not given the person is counted mean. Halters etc are kept when animal is sold.
