The two most important Forts in our district are situated near Lough Fuinnscinagh and they are about a half a mile apart. there are a good many other forts in our district also but they are very small. One of the forts is situated in the land belonging to Thomas Kenny and there is a row of blackthorn bushes growing all around it.
    Long ago those forts were built by the old Irish to protect them from wild animals and robbers and there were fences of black thorn bushes and stakes all around them. Some people say that the forts are haunted by
