    The English soldiers and pursued them as far as the Windy Gap killing great numbers as they tried to escape.
    The slaughter on both sides must have been terrible as some years since when the Athy Urban Council brought water from Wolfhill to Athy; the pipe track went through the field where the battle was fought, and on both sides of the cutting the bones were sticking out of the earth for a distance of a quarter of a mile.
