    Diarmod MacMurrough, "King of Leinster" gave it to Strogbow on his marriage to Diarmod's daughter. The O'Moores were constantly fighting for possession of it.
    After centuries of warfare the great fortress was blown up by Cromwells Soldiers in 1650.
