  1. James Fintan Lalor was born in the O'Lalor's house of Tenakill in the year 1807. He was the eldest son of Pat Lalor. He was a delicate boy and also his mother's favourate and through her care she reared him until he came to manhood. There were eleven boys and one girl in this remarkable family. All Fintan's brothers were great horsemen, but Fintan was not strong enough to act like his brothers so his thoughtful mother fitted up a room as a study so that he could learn as he
