  1. I live in the townland of Roskelton which is in the parish of Raheen and this parish is situated in the barony of Maryborough West.
    There are about sixteen houses in Roskelton and a population of about seventy people. The houses for the most part are slated as there are only a couple of thatched houses in it. Connor is the commonest name because there are four families of that name in it.
    There are only two old people in my townland: an old man and an old woman. In former times there were more people in it as three or four families left it and went to live in other parts of the country. Some people also went to America to look for work. There are a few old ruins in Roskelton but the
