  1. The landlords long ago were very
    cruel to the tenants.
    Mr. Pearse was our landlord some years ago, and he was a very cruel man and a greedy man for money.
    He always was looking for work and hurrying to sow the crop.
    He used go from house to house collecting the tenants. It did not matter what work the tenants were at he used bring them with him.
    He used to bring about ten men with him and keep them for one month working hard and his pay was four pence daily.
    He drove a woman named Mary Donelan out of her house and gave her house to a man named Michael Henighan
