use it. The people used to sow flax long ago. When it was ripe they used to cut it and make sheaves of it somewhat like barley. then they used to steep it in water and leave it there for a week or so. They would take it up and leave it a while to dry and then bring it home and dry it better by the fire. Then they would 'scutch"it. Then they would "hackle" it. They would "clove" it and then they would wind it up in balls. They had an instrument that they could put it into hanks. Then they would have beautiful linen sheets, towels, and tablecloths. The people still make shirts. My aunt and my mother can make them.
