  1. The Landlord.
    The local landlord was Mr. R. P. Worthington but he did not reside in the district but he lived in Ballinrobe. This landlord was looked upon as a very hard landlord. He carrie dout a lot of evictions in this district. The evicted people had to go out on the road side. This landlord got the land from the landlord Mr. Kelly. The land was divided into small holding and these were given to the people at a very heavy rent. The landlord did not exercise special power over his tenants only if they did not pay the rent he evicted them.
    There were titles collected beside the rents th and this wall called a Public Bess. In olden times the rent was not paid in money. The landlord sent his collector to Ballinlough to collect the rent for him. There was never any battles
