  1. The cost of a pair of shoes long ago was fifteen shillings. The shoemaker in Lehud was John Leary. The cost of an apprentice was ten pounds for three years. A set of horseshoes would cost two shillings. A gate fifteen shillings, a harrow twenty two, a bawn spade half a crown, a crane fifteen, a candlestick a shilling. A plough cost five pounds. Limekilns were very plentiful long ago. There was one below the bridge of Lehud. One in Cuan a gCoilleach, one above near Dan Shea the bakers, and one near the Sound wood. The limestone used be got over in Blackwater.
