- When the sun is to hot. It is a bad sign
When there are clouds around the moon that is a bad sign. When the Pheasent balling late in the night, it is a bad sign. When the cat is under the fire. It is the sign of snow - One day John Glennon of Ballyouskill challenged William Maher and Mike Gough in mowing a field. That morning when they went into the field, William had started to mow and he thought he would win and he never stood to sharpen the scythe, and Willain Maher was first to give in, and Glennon won and he mowed two acres and he left the other two far behind him. William Maher stayed in bed about four days after.
