    in after them. One of the men remained outside and made off as fast as he could in the direction of his own home. In a few minutes running he heard the noise of the dog coming in hot pursuit of him. This man got up on a high stone-wall ditch and took off his coat and warded off the dog's springs at him and after some time the dog left him and went in another direction where he worried some other person The owners of the dog of course heard of this happening and decided to get him destroyed immediately
    A local man having a gun shot him and in some time afterwards, he saw this dog again. It was said the man promised he would never again shoot a dog. The old people said that it was on account of the location of the house with the forths that caused the trouble around it.
