    oat meal is put into a bowl and wet with warm water in order to keep it from breaking and a grain of salt put into it. Then it is emptied out on the baking board and mixed round and round with your hands and then you put it out on a griddle in front of the fire until it is done.
    On Shrove Tuesday the old people used send someone round getting a pancake Syive (sic). Shrove Tuesday night is called pancake night. Pancake's are made nearly like common only it is thin and it is put out on the pan like we(e) buns.
