  2. All the fairs are held in Castleblayney. The fairs are always held in the towns round here. Long ago buyers transacted business at farmers' houses and at crossroads through the country. This is done still in some cases. There are no fairs which were held formerly that have now been discontinued. The fairs in Castleblayney and Ballybay are near a church.
    Sheep, horses and pigs are sold on the main street and Cattle are sold in a special fairplace called the Cowcommons or fair -
