    second night the fairy godmother came and touched her wand and dressed her nicer than ever. She made sure to leave before twelve that night, and the prince left her at the coach, and invited her back the following night. Whenever the third night came, the fairy godmother came and dressed her nicer than ever, and again warned her to leave before twelve. Cinderella enjoyed herself so well that she forgot until the clock was just striking twelve, when she made a race for the door, and in doing so dropped one of her glass slippers. The prince was annoyed at her sudden disappearance and went out to look for her, but the only trace he could get of her was a glass slipper, which he picked up when going past the door.
