  1. There is a treasure hidden in Hannans Castle in Donaghmoyne. The castle is hidden in a lake since about the time of St Patrick St Patrick was on his way to Tara. He was passing by the casle and Hannon invited him to rest and to stay there for the night. One of the servants aroused St Patrick and told him that Hannan was planning to poison him. St Patrick left without eating anthing. In a short time after the castle and treasure and all was buried in a lake. He is supposed to be tied to the treasure guarding it. One time some men went out on the lake to try to get the treasure. They found it and took it to the edge of the lake and tried to lift it out and they could not as it was to heavy. The got chains around it and tied it to a tree close by And they went away for help to get it out and when they came back they found that the chains were broken and the treasure was gone. The lake is on a high hill surrounded by trees. It is supposed that Hannon himself is guarding the treasure in the lake. He is guarding it till the end of time
