  1. In my district in olden times there were many more industries carried on than now, such as buttermaking, spinning, basket-making, candle-making, thatching, and soap-manufacture.
    Of all the above crafts, spinning is the one I know best because, although not now carried on here, it was carried on in nearly every home in this district about fifty years ago.
