  1. The following are the local heroes I have heard about.
    I have heard about swift runners.
    There was a famous runner thre lng ago named "Daly the Racer". He raced from Castleisland to Scartaglen. He put blood on his clothes in order to draw the blood hounds, and he kept before the blood hounds with his cane to kilsner(?). 'There was a bet between himself and a soldier as to which of them would reach currow first, in a face, a distance of about 4 miles. The soldier was clever, and had arranged that a second soldier would be in wait at at land(?) and then took his place. This happened and the second soldier won.
