  1. The Riot of Altagowlan
A Scene of the Land League Days
    I
Twas in the Glen of Augna, in days thats long gone by,
The things I'm going to tell about took place before my eyes.
The boys around old Geevagh and the fellows in the Glen
encountered some 400 of the landlords around men.
'Twas the 9th and 10th of January of 1908
The sturdy tenant farmer's rose and did not hesitate
To fly the good old Banner and to let the landlords know
They were going to teach a lesson to Hewitson, Knox and Keogh.
When they called upon the agent,
    they asked would he consent
To sell through the Land Commissioners,
but he told them, "pay the rent".
    II
He ignored the clauses of the Act
    that promised them a chance
    To purchase out holdings and
    divide the bullock's ranch.
