  1. The leipreachan is a small tiny little man not as big as a sod of turf. He himself is only about two inches tall and the hat which he wears is about the same height. His clothes and hat are all of a red colour. He lives with the fairies in forts or under a rock or in a dark corner of a field. The work he generally does is mending fairies shoes and gathering gold. The shoes which he wears have pointed turned up toes.
    Once a woman sent her son Peadar to the well for a can of water. On his way he met a Leipreachan caught him and asked him for a crock of gold. The Leipreachan made up several excuses but he would not let him go. He
