  1. Begorra, my patient brothers,
Grand news I have to tell.
The Land League here in Leitrim
    Is organising well,
    And all our Leitrim patriots
    May quit their foolish spleen,
And join the Land League Movement
    Again in College Green.

On the 15th day of August,
    I'll mind for evermore,
Many a Land League banner was seen
    That day in Ballinmore
    Full fifteen thousand heroes
    Assembled in the town
To raise the cause of liberty
    And, landlords to put down.
    They marched in good formation,
    They made a great display,
    With fifes and drums,
    They marched along,
Their hearts were light and gay.
    Each hero was decorated
    With our own immortal gown,
    And our saintly priest presided
    Called Fr. D. McBreen.

If you travel all the nation
    There is no such clergyman
    By birth and education
    He is a gentleman.
    This sympathy and energy
    Is always with the cause,
    And his patriotic eloquence,
    For him, has gained applause.
