    An estate owner, lived at one time in the Castle near Roscommon Town.

    On the following night the same thing happened, but on the third, in the presence of a large crowd, Farrell appeared again as when alive, and dressed in uniform. He made a grab at the man whom he had left alive and spared the first night, but a priest struck him with his breviary on the forehead and immediately the Farrell ghost fell to the ground, which opened and let him down.
    To this day there is a pool of water in that spot and it is known as "Farrell's pool."
