  1. Once there was a woman spinning in her kitchen. The hounds were in pursuit of the fox and, in order, to evade them, the fox ran into the house. The woman threw him up on the loft, chased the hounds and shut the door against them. When she thought they had gone a good distance she told the fox to come down off the loft. She opened the door and let him off.
    Next morning when she opened the door she found a dead turkey at the back door. In bringing the turkey as a present to her, the fox showed his gratitude.
