  1. Creel-making is a popular industry among the people of this district. The creels are used for bringing home turf and potatoes to the farmer's house, when there is not a suitable road for a horse and cart.
    The creels are mostly made by old men of about fifty or sixty years, especially poor men who wish to earn a few shillings with which to buy food or clothing for the families.
    Before starting work the creel-maker gathers a sufficient quantity of sally rods (from these the creels are made), he then goes to a field in which there are
