Evictions
“If the people did not pay their rent to the landlord he evicted them...”
If the people did not pay their rent to the landlord he evicted them. Then they were put to the road and neighbours used to take them in. After awhile they generally got back their houses. I know an old house on the old road between Kilbride and Drumkeerin which was the scene of an eviction. Some people used to fight those who came to evict them. They used to fire stones and everything they could get at them. Peter Flynn, Cloonemone Upper was caught and tried at Carrrick. He was sentenced to(continues on next page)
